Anthony D. Ribeiro - Emigrant Liaison

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)

Learner, Listener & Liaison

Born just before the solstice in June 1998 in Long Branch, New Jersey, my journey has been shaped by resilience and a deep commitment to community. My early years were spent in the Carolina Lowcountry, where my family moved in pursuit of a better life—much like many immigrants chasing the American dream. However, the 2009 market crash changed our course, and we found ourselves returning to Brazil.

Adapting to life in Brazil, I discovered a new part of my identity. It became clear to me that my sense of belonging wasn’t tied to a specific place, but rather to the meaningful connections I made with others. At 17, I returned to the United States on my own, working tirelessly to pursue an education while supporting my family. This journey eventually led me to serve in the Army until 2021. After my service, I came back to Goose Creek, ready to contribute to my community in a new way.

The vision for the Familiar Care Organization was born out of my desire to create a welcoming and supportive network for emigrating families, my community, and countless others navigating similar paths. I believe that no one walks their path entirely alone; together, our shared experiences can guide and support others facing similar challenges.

As Winston Churchill once said, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." This quote has been a guiding principle in my life and work, inspiring me to give back to my community and help others find their sense of belonging.

Why I do what I do...

Multicultural Events & Entretainment

From getting to know stories of loved ones while learning to cook different cuisines, to bumbling half-translated through conversations and streets of foreign countries: the intimate experience of sharing one's culture and life experience is humbling and powerful. My ambition is to share my hybrid culture and help people share what they too find is important for our community to thrive.

Professional Emigrant Business Resources

From childhood to present day: helping people in my community reach solutions to their problems have been integral to who I am. Helping parents and students get enrolled and communicate with Schools, to setting up Businesses/Home Utilities/Special Projects, and even translating/notarizing documents. These are all examples of situation where I wish my parents had advice or a guide to think of me, and my future. I promised myself a long time ago to not leave others who are walking my shared paths behind; this is my way of giving back.

Lowcountry PetCare: Berkeley & Dorchester Counties

As a Human Companion, or Pet Owner, I know the guilt I feel when I have to work all day to support or sustain a life my babies. I also understand the added pressure of inviting a stranger into my familiars life and my home. I commit  professionalism, discretion and integrity to every client; because I'd expect nothing else from someone I'd hire for myself.
